Ring Sizing Chart

A ring size chart shows you the range of sizes a ring appears in. Your ring size is a number (as opposed to small, medium, or large) that corresponds to the diameter of your finger. Most ring size charts range from size 3 (14.1 millimeters) to size 14 (23.1 millimeters). These sizes are used in the US and Canada. European and Australian sizes differ.

All of Calico Jewellers rings are specified in standard Canadian sizes. View the conversion chart to see how US/CAD sizes map to finger circumference, as well as how this convert to US, N.Z, Australia, E.U or the UK. If you are from another countries reach out and we can help you.

Note: This chart is not a full guide for all countries and is for reference only. Ring sizes may vary slightly depending on the design and width of the band. A wider band will fit differently than a narrow band. If you're still unsure about your ring size, we recommend getting measured by a professional jeweller.

How can I find my partner’s ring size (without them knowing)?

Borrow A Ring

If you are trying to keep the ring purchase a secret find a ring that your partner wears and use that to find out their ring size. Simply borrow it and take it to a jeweller to have it measured. Make sure to choose a ring that your partner wears on the correct finger and try to get a ring that fits snugly.

Ask A Friend
One of the best ways to find out your partner’s ring size is to ask one of their best friends, especially if it's a secret. They may have already told their best friend what style and size they are. If the friend does not know right away, he or she can be the one to ask (nonchalantly).
One step better, ask the friend to take your partner engagement ring shopping “for fun.” That way your partner will get professionally sized and maybe drop a hint about what styles they like!

Social Media

Snoop on your partners social media and post that they may have liked. Looking at platforms like Pinterest will not only give you ideas on the styles they like, there may be information on their ring size. But be careful, and use this method with another one to verify their ring size.

Trace A Ring

Take a ring that your partner wears and place it on a piece of paper. Draw a circle on the inside and outside of the ring. Do this several times to make sure your ring traces look consistent and can indicate the correct ring size. Using our Ring Sizing Guide you can figure out the measurement of the inner diameter from your sketch!

Use a Ring Sizer

This method is a little less accurate, but if you are desperate, go ahead and try it out! When you are holding your partner’s hand, see if their ring finger is similar in size to one of your fingers. For example, their left ring finger might be as big as your pinky. Again, this strategy will not be as accurate, but the more measurement information a professional jeweller has about your partner’s ring size the better!

Go To A Jewellery Store Or A Professional Jeweller

The best method is to go to a jewellery store or a professional jeweller and get your finger size measured. Either a jeweller can test your finger with a ring sizer, or you can try on some rings and ask the staff to confirm the ring size that you are trying on. Make sure that you try on rings that are the same width that you want, as the width of the ring will effect the size that fits on your finger.

Final Thoughts:

It's important to remember that the most precise way to determine your partner’s ring size is by having their finger measured by a professional jeweller. While the methods mentioned above can provide a good estimate, there is always a possibility of measurement errors. If you're planning to get a Calico Custom engagement ring, we strongly advise consulting a jeweller for accurate sizing.
